Ski Diving in Lauterbrunnen, Interlaken

So.. I did ski diving earlier this month. It was one awsome experience! First they geared me up with a suite and some belts and all. Then they attached to the jump master through hooks on shoulders and waist. Its like he was standing behind me. Then they took us up in a helicopter - much above the highest mountain.. which is a breathtaking view! Its awsome to see all the moutain peaks at eye level. and then comes the real frightening part.. The jump master moved ahead to the edge of the door, where I basically saw vast empty space in front of me and vast empty space below my feet upto the tiny trees below. It was really frightening, and suddenly he jumped. Exactly at this moment I felt a really strong curling feeling in stomach (pretty similar like coming down from a giant wheel). But it wasnt that bad, in about 3 -4 seconds it was ok and I kind of started enjoying the fall. Then in some more seconds he told me to hold onto the gear tight and he opened the parachute . This results in a really strong pull upwards (it was a 30 seconds fall, though then it felt not more than 10).
After opening the parachute he glided around the beautiful valley of Lauterbrunnen. The funniest part was, one part of me wanted to get back to earth as fast as possible but the other part suddenly remembered that maybe it wasnt such a good idea.
So finally after 7-10 minutes we landed .. and what a relief it was! to be on the good old earth, I was happy to be able to stand and walk.
All of this, from the helicoper starting from base to reaching back on ground did not take more than half hour but it was a lifetime of experience.

Note: its really not recommended for people with nausea problems in swings and fear of heights.

Do you know! the jump master is so practiced at this, that he does this every half an hour for about 3 -4 times continuously. (its not physically safe to do more than 7 jumps in day, which they strictly follow). and all the time with one hand he records a video with you. All my pics of ski diving have been taken by the jump master with whome i jumped.

Now when I think, I realize the idea of giving a parachute in flight in case of emergency is really not such an effective idea. Anybody jumping out of the plane, may be so overwhelmed with the feeling, that they may actually end up opening the parachute too early, or may not be able to open it, or really may bump into each other.
